Barbecues

Barbecues are one of the most popular things that people do to eat outside during the summer. There are some differences in meaning between grilling food and barbecueing it. To grill something means to cook it quickly above a close source of heat, while to barbecue something means to cook it slowly using indirect heat as the smoke permeates the meat. Different kinds of barbecues impart different kinds of tastes to the meat, depending on what is being burned. However, when most people use the word barbecue / barbeque, they are talking about eating outside during the summer and cooking food on a grill. Grills are usually highly portable and very convenient for outdoor cooking at a bbq, as the cooking surfaces on standard charcoal grills are easy to access and a charcoal grill is also easy to clean. Bbq grills are also usually made from relatively lightweight materials and barbecue grills are often designed with wheels so that they will be easy to reposition wherever you want them in a yard or field. When you are cooking in the great outdoors grills are a must, and you can have barbeques galore during the summer when the weather is perfect for eating outside.

If it is too rainy for barbecues, you can try grilling your food with an indoor grill such as the Foreman grill; the George Foreman grill is a clamshell design grill that uses a slanted cooking surface to drain the fat away from the meat. The lids on George Foreman grills can also be used to compress the meat and to further reduce the amount of grease and fat. George Foreman grills are often used for outdoors barbecues but can just as easily be used for grilling food indoors. While barbecues can be pulled off using a George Foreman grill, some people consider what this product does to be more like steaming the meat than actually grilling it, as most varieties of the George Foreman grill do not have any heat setting.

Barbecues in the more technically accurate sense can be had if you take the time to construct a barbecue pit, or if you purchase a large closed barbecue and take the time to let the taste of the materials used for cooking sink into the meat. While barbecues done in this way can be more time consuming, many people consider it a great way to spend a lazy summer afternoon.
